Tuesday’s Treats #156

Pleasantville Bar & Pub

Location: Zhytomyr, Ukraine

This place was amazing! It was so amazing that we are here twice during our travels!Comfortable seating, friendly staff, and delicious food is everything you will find here.

The pickle platter appetizer is delicious! The cucumbers are fresh and marinated with no vinegar; so, the pickles are quite different than American pickles, but they are so yummy. The pickled cabbage doesn’t taste like what you’d think. You’d think it would be sauerkraut, but it’s more like homemade coleslaw. It’s rather tasty.

The steak, chicken and any other meat you choose is grilled to perfection. My favorite were the veggies. Oh my! Delicious! We also tried a little dessert.

They didn’t have our first choice; so, we tried a little mousse cake. Little is the operative word! It was tiny, but it was rather tasty…maybe not my favorite dessert, but it was good. For a little bite, it packs a god punch! Lol!

I also ordered a Mojito (non-alcoholic beverage). It has a mix of lemon, lime, ginger and mint. A creative presentation and very tasty.

Be Destiny Minded

I read this statement today somewhere today and I thought, “Wow. Yes, I receive that.” Sometimes, we just have to let people walk out of our lives and never look back. I’m not talking about your spouse or those in whom you should place investments of time, love and attention. I’m talking about those people who habitually bring pain and drama into your life. Sometimes, you just need to walk or let them do the walking to maintain your own sanity and well being.

Some people are just not meant to be part of your destiny, and you have to allow them to leave; so, you might be able to live. That’s not being mean. It’s not be heartless, and it’s not even being apathetic.

It’s being wise. It’s using common sense. It’s using the brain God have you to make a better life, not only for yourself but for your children, your spouse, and your friends who are close enough to be impacted by the crazy situation you’ve allowed yourself to live under.

Live for your purpose. Focus not only on the present, but focus on your destiny. Realize what and who is beneficial to that dream and to that end result. Recognize who does not impact these things for good. Let them go.

Tuesday’s Treats #155

Churassco Grill & Wine

Location: Lviv, Ukraine

We ate here the last time we were in Lviv, and because it was so delicious, we had to make a repeat on our most recent trip! The food was just as yummy as before, and I actually got a better picture of that incredible cheese bread I told you about last night! (Here is my previous post.)

We repeated the cheese plate, the cheese bread, the steak and the grilled veggies. Everything was incredible, and the staff was just as helpful as before. This will definitely be a repeat every time we are in Lviv.

Here’s a clip of their menu, but you can find more on their website. It seems there isn’t an official website, but rather, a Facebook and foursquare site; so, these are the links I will share.

*Note: there are two locations, and their description is quite different. One is Grill & Wine and the other is Grill & Beer. We went to the Grill & Wine.

Here is what the front entrance looks like (at night); so, you can tell the difference in the two restaurants. 😉

Pleasantville Pub & Grill

Location: Zhytomyr, Ukraine

*My apologies for not having this posted on Tuesday! I did not realize I didn’t have a current one scheduled! 😉

This place is amazing! it was so good, we ate here twice during our travels. Comfortable seating, friendly staff and delicious food is everything you will find here.

The pickle platter appetizer is delicious! The pickles are so fresh and not marinated with vinegar; so, the taste is quite different than an American pickle, but they are oh, so delicious. The pickled cabbage does not taste like you would think either; it is not like sauerkraut. It is more like fresh coleslaw.

The chicken, steak, and any other meat you choose is grilled to perfection. My favorite were the grilled veggies. Oh my. Delicious! We also tried a little dessert. They didn’t have our first choice; so, we tried the little mouse cake. Little is the operative word. Lol! Yet, it does pack a little punch. It was yummy; although, it’s probably not my favorite.

I also ordered a non-alcoholic Mohito, and it was delicious! It has lemon, lime, mint and ginger, I think. A creative presentation and very tasty.

Tuesday’s Treats #153

Hugo’s Oyster bar

Location: Roswell, Georgia

Ok, so let me begin by saying, This restaurant will surprise you!” We chose this, simply, because we were returning from Atlanta, and it was rated #7 on TripAdvisor. The restaurant we wanted (that’s higher on the list) had a 45 minute wait at lunchtime, and we didn’t want to travel to downtown, where several of the other restaurants listed #1-6 on TripAdvisor are located. So, we chose Hugo’s.

Upon arrival, we pull into a corner, city lot, drive completely around the building, as the parking is a bit limited, and park on the far side of the building. Now, this gives us a chance to see all the “ugly” of the backside of the building, and to be honest, it is quite ugly. The building is painted white, which would be fine if it didn’t need some pressure washing. There was a camp chair just sitting on one side. The back of the building really needs an enclosure for all the stuff that’s back there, and the side where we entered was just, in general, in a bit of dishevelment. I don’t mean to be nit picky here; I’m only trying to set the stage for you, because as we entered, my husband and I were very hesitant, and had it not been noon, we might have just left. His last words before we walked in the door were, “Well, this is one of those times, we’re just going to have to trust TripAdvisor.”

TripAdvisor did not fail us!! Let me tell you…

Everything was absolutely phenomenal!! We ordered fried green tomatoes, as an appetizer, blackened red fish with creamed corn and fried okra, blackened grouper with Mac and cheese truffle and red beans and rice, and a filet with fries. The filet just melted in your mouth! Both fish were cooked to perfection, and the sides were incredible! Note, the creamed corn is prepared more of a southwestern style; so, it’s a little different if you’re expecting a southern style, but it was still quite tasty. The okra seemed to be hand-breaded in house, and it has just the right amount of salt and pepper: delicious! The Mac and cheese was homemade and amazing, and the fries were your traditional steakhouse fries. Yum!

Yet, these delectable dishes were almost completely outshined by what came next… DESSERT! OH. MY. WORD. Let me share for just a moment…

My husband ordered the key lime pie, and even though I didn’t share the pic, because it really didn’t have a great eye appeal, it tasted just like one of our favorite key lime pies from The Keys. The chocolate cake our son ordered was wonderful. It looked very small on the plate, but it was so rich, it packed a mighty punch! However, the most amazing dessert was the praline beignets. HOLY. MOLY!! WOW!! The little doughnuts alone would have been incredible, but that praline syrup with which they’re served… Can I just drink it?? 😂 I’m going to definitely be craving these again! Wow!

A couple of disclaimers so you know ahead of time… when they bring you the check, be prepared to get your feelings hurt. It’ll be a big one. 😉 Yet, this kind of food is definitely worth it! … if you go for lunch, and the the server doesn’t give you a dinner menu, you might want one. That’s what has the appetizers and market fish list. … if you don’t like oysters, as I do not, don’t be turned off by the limited lunch menu. Those po’boys liked amazing as they were being served to other tables, and you can order a half with soup and salad, which we may just go back and try sometime…if I can get past the amazing grouper!

This place just goes to prove, you can’t always judge a book by its cover. Had we not been in the circumstances of lunch hour in Roswell, because of the look of the backside of the building, and because we’re not huge oyster fans, we may not have stayed to enjoy such an amazing meal! We will definitely be back!!
