Friday’s Friends #30

Today is FRIDAY!! Whoo-hoo! 🎉 That means it’s time to share a new “friend” with you.

I just found this sweet blog yesterday, and I thought it was perfect timing for today’s weekly event. My apologies for not having it posted at 11:00 this morning. I got distracted by a few things that had to be done, and I’m just getting back on here. 😜

Hanna has a great outlook on faith and hope, and I especially liked one of her more recent posts of how God is helping her to grow and strengthen spiritually, emotionally and mentally. She has a lot of wisdom for a young lady, and she’s learning more day by day. I do hope you’ll visit her site today, and I hope you’ll find encouragement as I did.

On a hot summer day, you can even sit in the rocking chairs out front and enjoy your nice cold ice cream, but you better eat it quick before it melts!

Friday Friends #29

Today is Friday, and I love Fridays, because I get to share with you a new “friend” here in this blogging community.

Today, I’d like to introduce you to Bel. She travels all over and shares the beautiful scenery, hiking tips and traveling wisdoms with her readers. She will also give you her opinion on a few different hiking apparel and other items that might help you in your travels. She does get paid commission for these, and she tells you that up front, but she’s not pushy or trying to market something. It’s just a simply linked post within the blog.

I’ve really enjoyed reading her posts, and she makes me want drop everything, hop on a plane and go exploring! I hope you will stop by and do some exploring yourself! 😊< img src=”https://thegrizzlegrist.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/img_1609-2.gif”>

Tuesday’s Treats #84

Rib Country

Location: Cleveland, GA

Rib Country is a great place to stop by on your way to several great places in North Georgia. It’s right on Highway 129 as you head north toward Blairsville, Yonah Mountain or the Sautee Nacoochee Gap area (east or west, depending from which direction you’re coming).

The atmosphere is pure country with all the beautiful wood. Tables and booths, mason jars for drinking and round, silver trays for getting your platter of meat. The staff are friendly, and, typically, the customers are, too.

I suggest the brisket platter or the chicken, but if you prefer pork, lots of people do. The salads are always good, and the onion loaf can feed a small crowd. There are several BBQ sauces from which to choose, and homemade nana pudding and cobbler can be chosen for dessert.

Honestly, this isn’t my favorite BBQ, but it’s a solid B when you’re in that area. The last time we visited, it wasn’t as good as usual, but I’m hoping it was just a passing moment. We’ll be trying it again soon, and we’re hoping it will be better.

Check them out here.

Tuesday’s Treats #83

The Hamilton

Location: Washington, D.C.

This place has a great atmosphere, great staff and incredible food. If you’re in the D.C. area, it’s definitely a go-to. There’s lots of seating options, as they have a bar area, restaurant and upstairs area with live music.

The grilled cheese is AMAZING. Don’t be fooled. This is not your normal kids grilled cheese. The burgers are good as the other dishes. My apologies for not having the actual names of the plates. I couldn’t pull up the complete menu on the website, but you’ll just have to trust me that hey have a lot of great choices!

I hope you will check them out here and enjoy your meal! 😊

Tuesday’s Treats #82

Bullfrogs

Location: Flowery Branch, Ga

Bullfrogs has a great atmosphere, a good staff and delicious food. The menu is a bar and grill type, and there’s lots to choose. I personally love the nachos appetizer and the chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. The desserts are yummy, too. Check them out on the web, and if you’re coming from out of town, go ahead and book yourself a room at the lodge and enjoy the pool, amenities and even Lake Lanier Islands. It’s a fun place to explore. 😊

Tuesday’s Treats #81

The Oceanaire Seafood Room

Location: Washington D.C.

This place is all about atmosphere AND delicious seafood. We had been site seeing all day in DC when a friend recommended this restaurant to us. We were famished and almost back to our hotel; so, we decided to give it a try. Upon entering, the manager was on the phone and made us wait for a minute; then, he tried to be a little pretentious, asking if we had reservations and telling our oldest to remove his hat. We just brushed past his behavior, removed the hat and allowed the hostess to seat us. The waitress was more than accommodating, and we quickly realized that what we thought to be true was: expensive restaurant, pretentious manager, great staff and incredibly good food.

We ordered the 16 oz NY strip, blackened halibut, a Caesar salad, truffle whipped potatoes, hashbrowns a’la Oceanaire, and a kid’s cheeseburger with fries. Oh. My. Goodness! Everything was absolutely amazing!! This meal would be ranked in the top ten of our all time favorites. Because the sides and the steak were in such large proportions, we actually split this meal between three people (2 adults and a teen son), and even our youngest son enjoyed some steak, too. Now, I do realize it was shareable, because we had two starches as well, which are very filling; however, it was a large size meal.

As if the meal wasn’t enough, we decided to get dessert, too. The cheesecake was out of this world with a raspberry sauce and berries on top. The “warm cookies and milk” are a definite winner, and the key lime pie was good but maybe not one of my favorites. However, my husband and I both might very well be considered kind of a “key lime pie snob.” The crust was yummy, but there wasn’t enough of it. The whip cream on top was amazing, and it was definitely homemade, but the pie itself was just a little too light and fluffy for my liking.

One of the things I love about their menu is the “simply prepared” items, of which the halibut was one. These items are listed alone with no sides, and you get to decide the side, as well as, the way you’d like it prepared. They do have chef specialties and other items from which to choose. Oh, they also bring out a little tray of fresh veggies to begin (carrots, cucumbers, pickle and radishes) and fresh baked bread and butter. A great way to start off a wonderful meal!

I didn’t realize until going to the website they have so many locations. We will definitely be looking them up when we are in different states, too!

Friday’s Friends #26

It’s Friday!! Yay!! I love Fridays, because it’s when I get to share with you one of my “new” blogging “friends. I may not know them personally, but I’ve met them through the blogging community, and here, we are all friends. 😉

Today, I’d like to introduce you to Carla over at seakingthesun. I started following her blog quite a while back, but I dropped back by tonight, and I was just “wowed” by this piece about forgiveness. She has such a brave, strong heart, and I hope you will find encouragement there as I have.

Have a great weekend ahead! 💗
