How did it go yesterday?
This one might have been pretty tough…If you guessed anything pertaining to a lighthouse, I’ll give it to ya! š
Sometimes, we are walking around in darkness, and because we’re not conscientious, we may not recognize the darkness until we walk into the light. Because we’ve allowed the little things to slowly dim our sight, we don’t realize the overshadowing darkness until danger arrives.Ā
Its like walking into a cave without a lantern. The further you walk, the more your eyes must adjust to the dark surroundings, but the further you go, the darker those surroundings become, regardless of how well you believe your vision has adjusted. There will come a moment when there is nothing but darkness surrounding you, and if you do not remember your path, you will not survive.
Yet, there is Hope. God promises, when you trust in Him, you will always have a way of escape. He promises, if you will but call on His Name, He will always lead you out of darkness. He needs nothingĀ from you but for you to believe.
Call on Him today, and you will find the Light. Call on His Name, no matter where you have found yourself to be, and He will answer. He will be your refuge and your salvation. Don’t wait a second longer. You never know the danger that is just beyond your sight.
Sometimes, you’ve just got to let the lighthouse shine…” – Joey Grizzle
My husband said this other night as we were visiting a closed, but working, lighthouse. It caused me to start thinking…
Tha lighthouse shines with no prodding or propping. I wonder how often do we just let the lighthouse shine? (The lighthouse being our testimony for Christ.) Do we actually let it shine before all men that they might find our Savior?
Do we let it shine while we are being tested? What about when life is chaotic and hard? What about when we just woke up on the wrong side of the bed?
Of course, some will take this little blurb as a declaration that we must simply “let our light shine,” never speaking to anyone about our faith, lest they get offended. What about those who aren’t highly observant, but who would listen for hours? What about those who are about to hit a danger zone and desperately need rescuing? Don’t they need more than just a light shining? Sometimes, words need to be spoken before they will listen. That’s a post for another day, but please don’t mistake my words as an encouragement for silence in our witness, and don’t misinterpret this as God’s light isn’t big enough. I just think, sometimes, we need to shine our ligh and speak up!
This world is in desperate need of His light. It will shine in those lives that have become so dark and overwhelming that they see past the tunnel of their own pain. It will show them to a better way.
Just as a lighthouse guides the ships past the jagged rocks that would shatter the vessel, Christ shines to guide men past the pains of their past to a brighter future.
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
“Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105
We may not always be able see far down the path. In fact, many times, we won’t be able to see more than one or two steps in front of us. Think about it.
How often do you know what is going to happen in a certain situation or a certain conversation? We can imagine. We can assume. We can even theorize, but we can never truly know, because we are not God. We are not fortune tellers. We are not even wizards who might conjure up an image of what’s to come.
We simply are who we are, and He is who He is.
We just have to follow Him one step at a time. If we will follow in obedience, we will make it to our destiny, even when we can’t see three steps in front of us. He is a good and loving Father, and when we will put our trust in Him, He is faithful and just to lead us, protect us, change us and love us, despite our fears, failures, doubts or hesitations along the way.
Can you trust Him today? I promise you, even when things don’t turn out the way you expected, in the end, He will not disappoint. He can see farther. He knows more, and best of all, He knows the innermost depths of our heart, even those things that we might hide from ourselves. He does know best, and He loves us so much, He is willing to give us just what we need when we need it!
What do you see when you see fire?Ā
Do you see this evil and all kinds of danger?

Do you see dancing and fun times?

Maybe you just see a whirlwind of emotion and thought… Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā
Do you simply see a light to brighten your path along the way?
…or a spark to ignite your passion?
…or maybe a flash of hope in a darkened world?
It’s a deep, dark tunnel
I am forced to walk through to funnel.
The scars are deep, those it requires.
The voices are strong, never tiring in the mire.
The path is paved with the broken and the destroyed.
Their demise is how I must fill the void.
Learn from their mistakes. Don’t make it twice.
Turn away from my heart’s wicked, wicked vice.
It’s scary. It’s sad. It’s simply a lie.
Yet, there’s a light guaranteed on the other side.
There is a promise, a hope, a future.
If I can just find the strength and energy to endure.
We’re not here long, and this is simply a test.
If I can just keep my sight focused on Him and not the rest.
I will find all the peace and belonging I hope for.
All I must do is just open the door.
The path is loneliness.
The destination is depression.
Those who don’t struggle never quite understand the battle.
Those who battle without hope can never see beyond the rattle.
Those who find Hope, find a new tomorrow.
This is a Hope that doesn’t just have to be borrowed.
This is the Only One who gives true Hope and Life.
He is the answer. Will you let Him take away your strife?
He can help you. He came here just for you.
He longs to hold you, to heal you,to love you through and through.
All you have to do is see, believe and trust.
All you have to do is say His name, and your hope will never rust.

āThen Jesus spoke to them again, saying, āI am the light of the world.
He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of lifeā.ā
John 8:12

He is the Light which never fails. When the storm seems the darkest, when the waves are crashing in, just remember, light always pierces through the darkness. There is no storm so strong that He cannot prevail. There is no darkness so deep that He cannot shine.
This world in which we live is such a dark place. There are many waves of confusion crashing upon the shores of those around us. The storm clouds rage in so many with whom we come in contact, and yet, too often, we fail to shine the Light that would help them to see.
I think, maybe, during the Christmas season, some of us become more aware, because after all, itās the season to be jolly, kind and thoughtful, and we see light everywhere! However, others of us miss prime opportunities during this season, because we have gifts to buy, food to cook, goodies to bake, families to visit, children to wrangle and overspending to be reconciled. We may overlook the lost and weary simply because we are so tired and dreary!
During these next few weeks, as we join together to celebrate the holidays, let us remember how to be His light to this dark and stormy world:
He brings peace where there is chaos.
He brings love where there is hate.
He brings truth where there is a lie.
He brings healing where there is brokenness.
He brings life where there is death.
The world can find this light if they can simplyā¦
Just hope.
Just trust.
Just believe.
Let us be the light that pierces through their darkness.
Let us show them He is the Light of Life!
Whew, it’s been busy around here, because we are moving (just across town)! So, if you will indulge me this week, I may do a little bit of “resharing” of posts. I hope you don’t mind, and I hope, maybe, I’ll share one you haven’t seen before. Next week, I should be able to get back to writing! š
Have you ever felt lonely, wondering if anyone cares? Have you felt as if everyone has left you to wander through this life without direction or love, ever reaching, ever hopeless, ever desperate? Have you felt you were, perhaps, standing in a forest of trees all around, and if you fell, no one would hear your cry or even notice you were no longer standing there?
Sometimes, in life, we can feel as if there is not a soul on earth who feels the way we feel right at that very moment. We feel as if we are isolated, ostracized, and severed from those who love us.
We may be alone, but we’re not truly alone. We may be isolated, but we’re not really isolated.
There is always light peeking through the darkness.
There is always hope in the midst of hopelessness.
We only need to know where the source of Life is. We only need to realize there is an escape from the voices of despair screaming at us in the night. We only need to believe there is something more.
There is always hope for change as long as you have breath in your being.
There is always hope for life when there is a beating in your heart.
Just breathe.
Just believe.
Just be freed.
He is The One…the Light peeking through.
Jesus answered, āI am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6
When the storm seems the darkest, when the waves are crashing in, just remember, light always pierces through the darkness. He is the Light which never fails. There is no storm so strong that He cannot prevail. There is no darkness so deep that He cannot shine.
He brings peace where there is chaos.
He brings love where there is hate.
He brings healing where there is brokenness.
He brings life where there is death.
He is able. He is faithful. He is God.
Just hope.
Just trust.
Just believe.
The lighthouse has such a powerful light which shines across the sea; however, it’s actually not because of a particularly bright light bulb. Rather, it is because of the mirrors in place which cause the reflected light to shine brightly into darkness.
Just as a lighthouse is not bright simply because of a powerful light, a person cannot truly be strong simply because of his or her own strength, and a church cannot be strong simply because of a good program, a popular song service or even a great man behind the pulpit.Ā When founded in Christ, the only true strength is when we reflect the praise we receive upon those with whom we are joined to minist, and reach those who are lost.
When the church body, the leadership, and the pastor are constantly reflecting upon each other all the light that is brought upon them, and especially when they are reflecting that light upon Jesus, the strength of that is enforced and brightened beyond imagination. We, as Christians, have too often, gotten into competitive relays with each other, always trying to better ourselves for the sake of gaining numbers, or taking them from another body of believers, rather than, bettering ourselves for the sake of our Christian walk and lifting Him up so that He might draw them to Himself. We’ve worked too hard to soak up the spotlight which has been show upon us rather than reflected that light upon those around us and upon Christ. Let us each learn a lesson from the beautiful lighthouse!
The power of reflected praise: Any praise you get should be reflected onto someone else! The church grows stronger by the power of reflected light!

Dedicated to movie nerdom, nostalgia, and escape. In the late 90s, I worked at Blockbuster Video where they let me take home two free movies a day. I caught up on the classics and reviewed theatrical releases for Denver 'burbs newspapers and magazines. Today, while raising two young, beautiful daughters with my amazing wife, I look forward to anything rated R and not Bluey. Comments and dialogue encouraged!
