Being an Effective Leader

To be an effective leader, you’ve got to have the temperament of both a lion and a lamb.

If you are only portrayed as a lion, you will be fierce, fearless and free.

But you can also be too sharp, intimidating and terrifying.

If you are only portrayed as a lamb, you will be calm, cautious and caring.

But you can also be too hesitant, timid and fragile.

Oh. But to have a beautiful balance of both characteristics of the lion and the lamb, you will be effective, encouraging and excellent.

Boldness without love turns to arrogance.

Courage without caution turns to recklessness.

Freedom without awareness (of others) turns to abuse and neglect.

Let’s be the leaders we were meant to be.

And if we are Christians, let’s simply follow the example our God set before us of being both the Lion and the Lamb.

But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.”

Revelation 5:5

And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, “Behold the Lamb of God!”

John 1:36

Whimsical Wednesday

Are you strong and fierce?

Are you courageous and bold?

Does your roar reach the heavens?

Do the “animals” around you tremble at your nearing?

Or have you become just a legend?

Just a moment in time, wrapped in stone.

The stories of greatness wrapped up in your past, but somewhere along the way, you became lost and undone.

Start again in this new 2020.

Refresh your mind.

Renew your spirit.

Roar again.

…Just a thought for your Whimsical Wednesday…

Like a Lion

Too often, as Christians, we allow the enemy of our soul to defeat us, because we forget the promises we have been given. Too often, we lie down in the muck and mire of our lives and allow our circumstances to overwhelm us to the point of suffocation. We lay down our weapons, and we back away from our destiny, because the way seems too long and the fight appears too hard. We read the Scripture that the enemy is like a lion looking to devour us and we believe it, forgetting the rest of the verse that tells us to “resist him, standing firm in the faith!”

We have been given the weaponry to defeat what comes against us! We are not meant to be wimpy, noodle-spined children of God. We are children of a risen KING! We are destined to win this thing, not because we are so strong nor because we are able to be perfect. We are destined to win, because HE HAS ALREADY WON the victory! The Book has already been written. The end has already been determined!

All we have to do is stand firm in His Word. Ephesians 6:13-14 reminds us, “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore…” So, if you are feeling weary today, be encouraged! Take up your sword of the Spirit and your shield faith one more time and slay that giant before you. God is with you, and with Him, you cannot fail!

As The Eagle Soars

As the eagle soars, Your love seeks Your “prey”

He swoops down for the “kill”

You reach out, their eternity to seal

As the eagle soars, Your love sets us free today.

As the lion stalks, Your mercy watches Your “victim”

He attacks at the unexpected moment

You envelope their shame to relent

As the lion stalks, Your mercy to us has come.

As the stallion gallops, Your joy races for Your goal

He strives for the long stretch

You plunge forward, their pain to fetch

As the stallion gallops, Your joy surrounds our souls.

As the hawk dives, Your compassion targets the weak

He closes in before one glance

Your poise ready, their hearts to receive

As the hawk dives, Your compassion to us has embraced.

As the tiger lunges, Your grace destroys the pride

He devours in a second’s breath

You consume all, their light to change from death

As the tiger lunges, Your grace to everyone belongs.
