Tuesday Treats #190

Luciano’s Ristorante Italiano

Location: Lawrenceville, GA

*Oops! My apologies for the delayed post!*

We visited this restaurant quite a while ago, and honestly, we weren’t highly impressed on the first run, but this return visit is proof that, sometimes, you have to try a place twice to be sure it’s not a place you will actually enjoy. This time around, it was quite amazing! I gave a review then, and you can read about it here.

The only drawback I can see is the seating in the house. There are no booths, all tables and chairs. It’s very much a fancy cafe style setting (white tablecloths), and if you like that, then you’ll have no hesitation. My husband, son and I prefer a bit more cozy settings, but we did get a table in the corner, against the wall, and it was perfect.

Once seated, we were greeted by an incredibly friendly server, and we ordered a Caesar salad, lasagna and two small pizzas, one with only pepperoni, and the other with pepperoni, mushrooms and peppers (they do yellow peppers here instead of the common green). Everything was absolutely delicious. One interesting thing this restaurant does is if you ask for crushed red pepper, they bring you a huge bowl of it! (See pic) I wondered if it was “fresh,” because of how it was served, but I forgot to ask. It provides just the perfect kick for our pizzas, and our youngest enjoyed the fresh Parmesan they brought him as well. The pizzas are cooked in a wood fire oven; so, they have that delicious brick oven flavor. The Italian bread and dipping sauce, marinara and spices, is incredible. The lasagna is savory, meaty, cheesy and scrumptious.

I will have to say, the desserts were the “icing on the cake,” no pun intended. I had a cappuccino, and we ordered the zeppole for everyone to enjoy. Oh. My. What a delight! These ricotta cheese filled Italian doughnuts with Nutella were phenomenal. We definitely made ourselves overstuffed with those. The cappuccino was yummy served with a crunchy and very tasteful (cookie) biscuit.

I’m so glad we were in the area, in the mood for Italian and decided to give this restaurant another shot. We will definitely be back!

Once Again

Once Again

Your face reminds me of the pain

Your smile retains the brokenness

Your voice prods the gash deep in my soul.

Just when I think I’ve grown past, I hear your laughter within

Just when I feel I’ve moved beyond, I see your hand holding on

Just when I believe I’ve overcome, I touch a memory in the forgotten mind

I wish I could just stay angry forever

I long to see the payment for your crime

I yearn for the day when justice divides

Yet, He draws me back to unconditional love

He reminds me of His unyielding mercy

He calls to my heart to gracefully forgive

Not for your sake, but rather, for mine

Once Again

This is quite an old song, but it so eloquently describes the wounded heart. ❤️

Friday Fun Day

Somedays, you just need to put in your fuzzy lounge pants and fuzzy socks, grab a hot cup of coffee (or tea), cover up with a warm quilt, and curl up with a good book or a classic movie…especially, when it’s cold and rainy outside!

Can you feel a Friday Fun Day comin’ on?

Let’s go! 😊

Beyond the Grief

Is there ever a day when you’re beyond the grief?

When they say his name, you don’t smile with the sadness, because your arms long to hold him one more time?

When they bring up her picture, you don’t grimace in pain, because your soul still weeps for the loss?

When does the grief end?

Is there ever a moment when you’ve grown past the grief?

When you see the black and whites and don’t wipe away the tears that flow so easily?

When you hear a common melody and don’t want to run away from the familiar song?

When does the grief end?

Our hearts were not made for this separation.

Our souls were not fashioned to say goodbye.

The void inside was made for eternity.

There, our losses never ask why.

Whimsical Wednesday

Maybe it’s a bit colder than you’d like

Maybe it has a bit more rain

Don’t let the wind hold you back

Never let the wet lead you to lack

A brighter day is just around the corner

A shinier future is just around the bend

If life feels a mite disappointing right now

Just step back and blink; you might just say, “Wow!”

Tuesday’s Treats #189

Country Cupboard Cafe

Location: Dillard, GA

If you’re looking for amazing, homemade desserts or great, southern style vegetables, this is the place to go. They also have amazing pot roast, fried chicken, and basically almost every southern dish you can think of, and the salad bar is incredible. We’ve not had one bad meal here, and we have frequented this restaurant for years.

Recently, we have been eating lunch in another local town, going up to Black Rock Mountain State Park, and then, stopping by here for their delicious desserts. The picture above is not the most eloquent photo of homemade apple pie, as I didn’t get it with a scoop of ice cream, but let me assure you, it tastes just like grandma’s recipe, delicate, flaky crust and all. I could eat this pie just about every day and twice on Sunday. You just don’t find an apple pie very often that is made as delicious as this. My husband loves the French Chocolate silk pie sundae is absolutely amazing. Be prepared. You’ll leave here wishing you hadn’t eaten so much, but definite satisfies you came.

They also have key lime pie, pecan pie, coconut pie, and so many more to list. Everything is homemade; so, you’re not getting a grocery store piece of pie here. No, sir. It’s all freshly baked. They also have an assortment ice cream and fudge; so, your choices for dessert are endless.

They also have a cute little gift shop where you can shop for a few unique items.

I’ve reviewed this restaurant before, but I focused more on the meal offerings; so, I thought I’d review again and give an update on the desserts. 😉

What Is A Good Neighbor?

What does it mean to be a good neighbor?

Is it simply smiling as you drive by the house?

Is it raising your hand with a wave as you pass them in the street corner?

Is it picking up a valuable and returning it to their doorstep?

Is it holding open the door as he wobbled in on the cane?

Is it helping her take one more step with her feeble pace?

Is it embracing them as they weep their loss?

Could it be a statement of confrontation to avoid disaster?

Could it be a moment of disagreement to detour from harm?

Could it be a jolt of volume to shut the door to Hell?

Could it a kind word to the multitude as you pass by?

Could it be a loaf of bread to the starving?

Could it be fresh water to the parched?

Could it be all of these and more?

Do you shut yourself out; so, your eyes don’t have to feel?

Do you close the door; so, your ears don’t have to hear?

Do you shield your expression; so, your heart doesn’t have to feel?

Who will be a good neighbor within your home?

Who will be a good neighbor in your city?

Who will be a good neighbor to your world?

It only takes one.

Will it be you?

Friday Fun Day

When you go on a little birthday celebration trip, and dad says, “You can fill up a cart with anything you’d like.” So, they use “1/2 buggies,” as I call them, to complete the task, and they get as many items as they possibly can, especially those that I won’t normally buy for them!

Now, that’s what I call a Friday Fun Day! 🎉

… even though, it was Thursday night…just a few hours early! Lol! 🤣

Seventy Times Seven

You slice me with your words

You cut me with you stare

You pierce my heart with your lies

You clench my lungs but never hear my cries

You stir deceit among my friends

You create havoc among my loves

You sever my relationships with your slander

You sear my kinships with a cruel banter

Every year, I draw near to repentance

Every hour, I crawl back to mercy

Every minute, I search to find grace

Every second, I seek forgiveness to erase

Whimsical Wednesday

The weather is fine

Let’s go and dine

Let’s go and have an adventure

Before all the leaves turn to winter

The drive is divine

We don’t need the wine

We don’t need the activity center

As long as with love we can venture
