The Winds of Change

Since I posted about CHANGE two days ago, and I meant to reblog this yesterday. I thought I’d reblog it now before the last Friday’s New Angle comes up… 💗

The winds of change have come

I feel them blowing on my face

My spirit is lifted with the dream

My heart is now set to race

The change is inevitable

But with God, all things are divine

The memories tucked safely within

Onward moving, not forgetting those behind

A new chapter has begun

A new home, a new city, and new friends

In Him, everything has a season

In Him, He brings joy, even before it all begins

All Things New

Watching the snow fall late Friday night, I was reminded of this Scripture in 2 Corinthians 5, “So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” Just as the snow appears to “wash” everything in a beauty of white, Christ’s salvation makes our hearts pure and clean again.

Salvation doesn’t cost us a thing. It is not something we can earn. It is not something that we deserve. Salvation is a gift from our Heavenly Father, and we simply must believe and accept it as our own. Salvation is freely given, and it’s freely received.

When we receive it, we are a new creation in Him. All things are past away. All things are made new. That means our past sins are forgotten and washed away by Him. Never to be remembered again. When we accept Him as our Savior, our Lord, we don’t have to return to those old habits, those old ways and those old lifestyles that brought sorrow, brokenness and eternal death.

We can have a second chance at a whole new outcome.

How about allowing a little bit of that snow to wash over your heart?

Wednesday’s Ode #46

I missed blogging yesterday; so, I thought I’d reblog this this morning as a friendly little reminder. Share some kindness today, you never know the lives you will touch. This season and always, let us see beyond our agendas and our circle of friends to reach the world in need. 💗

I love Christmas time!! It IS the most wonderful time of the year!!

I love the caroling, the wrapping of presents and putting them around the tree, the gatherings of families and friends to eat yummy foods and all the wonderful laughter that can be heard within the home. Oh, yes, Christmas time is my absolute favorite time of the year!

I love to see random acts of kindness happening all over the place. A few days ago, I was in Walmart, in the middle of the toy aisle, and all of a sudden, I was surrounded by 3-4 cops, and just as many children. I walked to the next aisle, and as far as I could see, there were policemen of all different divisions all over the store with children and their families, as they walked the aisles, asking the kids what they’d like to have. I was overwhelmed…

Christmastime Blues

If the Christmastime Blues are trying to get you down this week, just reset your focus on what is the true meaning of the season, and you’ll find your joy again! Merry Christmas!

The WheatandTares's avatarthe grizzle grist mill

Do you ever feel as if you’re the onlyone who could possibly feel the way you do?

Do you ever think no one else understands; no one has a clue?

That’s when the Christmastime Blues settle in like a cold, hard rain.

They come to stay when your focus is off, life is chaotic and the main thing isn’t the main.

Those bluesy blues will hit the heart and try to make a home.

Don’t let them come in. Make them run away as you worship Christ alone.

For He is worthy of all our honor, our love and our praise.

For He is the Christ child come to change our life and our earthly days.

Merry Christmas

It Is Our Story To Tell

“…that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:19-21

I have a friend who is dealing with the pain and agony of cancer that has spread across her body. Last month, I was notified of a friend who lost her 16 year old son in a house fire. Just last week, I ran across a FB post from a past church member who lost his wife tragically in a car wreck. It seems more and more I hear of friends going through a divorce, family members who are faced with illnesses and children who are lost and undone.

These stories hit close to home. I am a wife. I have a 15 year old and an 11 year old. Living is hard sometimes, and I find myself wondering why it’s so sorrowful at times. Yet, these tragedies make me realize so many around me are hurting. These moments of grief remind me that we weren’t made for this. We weren’t meant for these illnesses, these tragedies, this death. We are here but for a season…

This world is dying for peace, for healing and for love. If we will just look around us, we will see so many hurting souls right in front of us. Christ came to this earth that their stories might end differently. The story of Christ’s birth, life, death and resurrection are the very thing that can bring healing to their brokenness. These details don’t somehow miraculously make all things perfect. This account doesn’t instantly change your circumstance or your plight.

Yet, when you find Jesus, and you believe in Him, He does one special thing for you. He brings you HOPE. Hope to face the storm and come out on the other side. Hope to face one more day. Hope to see the sun on the horizon. Hope to breathe again. Hope to live beyond this current life.

His story is one of HOPE, and if we know Him, we should be sharing this with everyone we meet. You never know, that person beside you might very well need it the most!

A Season For Tears…A Season For Cheer

Praying for those whose Christmas may not seem as magical today as they grieve their precious loved ones. There IS Hope.

Yesterday, I was so emotional all day, I felt I had to hold back the tears with all my might. It all began when I read a Facebook status update from a friend and relative who has lost her grandmother and grandfather within almost a month of each other and how she is struggling with the grief while trying to maintain a cheerful home for her children during the holidays. The feelings just washed over me like a tidal wave of how much I miss my own grandfather, even though, he’s been gone for over 12 years now. So much changed within my family after his death, and without him here, it will never be the same. Christmas has never been the same without him.

Several times throughout the day, I thought of him, and I began thinking of so many who have lost a mom, a dad, a child…

Joy and Gratitude

Just thinking we might need to share a little joy and gratitude today… 😉

2015/01/img_9402.png Is the height of my [abundant] joy dependent upon the depths of my [grateful] thanks?
– Ann Voskamp, One Thousand Gifts*

As I read this book, and ponder this thought, I am challenged to live beyond my current state of stagnant being. I have more to give. I have more to experience. I have more to live.

Too often, we miss the abundance of joy, because we fail to recognize our lack of gratitude that is blinding us to His truths. When we humbly appreciate His grace, when we kindly receive His mercy, these are the moments we truly live. We are freed from the weight of expectation. The cage of our own ideals is broken and crushed. We are able to take flight and fully live.

Grace. Thanksgiving. Joy. The true meaning of life. The true life to living.
Joy in the moment. Life in the minute of giving…

Friday’s New Angle #92

It’s Friday! Woohoo! 🎉🎈 That means it’s time for another New Angle! 😊

Remember to check back here tomorrow for the answer! 😉

The Christmas List

Missing a blog post yesterday because of busyness and seeing this post pop up made me decide to repost it today. As the holiday season quickly approaches, let’s not allow ourselves to get so busy that we fail to remember the more important things…

The WheatandTares's avatarthe grizzle grist mill

Thanksgiving is next week. Black Friday is right after that. Christmas is only 38 days away. We will usher in the New Year in just 45 days…that’s about the average amount of time you take to close on a house. There will be endless get togethers, shopping trips, holiday parties and cards to be sent between now and then…Life can get so busy at this time of year!

I feel like more and more, time just speeds up the closer we get to the end of the year. There are so many things I want to do, especially for the holidays, with my family and friends. I can feel my agenda of events starting to take over and consume my calendar. If I try to hold tightly to the time, like sand in an hour glass, it simply starts trickling through my fingers. There’s simply not enough time.

No, wait…

Wednesday’s Ode #37

Today my grandfather would have been 90; yet, we had to say goodbye to him 14 years ago. I know he is in a better place, and I know I will be reunited once again; however, I still miss him terribly, and I can’t wait to be embraced in his arms one more time; yet, for today, I will simply say, “It is well. Happy Birthday, Pa”T!” ❤️

Today, I would like to dedicate this Ode to a man who has always been very special in my life, and who will always hold a special place in my heart; even though, I had to say goodbye to him 13 years ago…my grandfather, aka Pa”T”.

Although, it has been 13 years ago (October 6), it feels like forever since I held his strong hands and kissed his cheek. My heart still yearns to see him again. My ears long to hear him say, “I love you, baby.”  My arms still desire to wrap around his big ol’ frame and receive a great big bear hug from him. I miss him so much. Time doesn’t erase the pain; it just makes the pain tolerable to live through.

You see, Pa”T” was not just my grandfather, he was like a Daddy to me, the only dad I really knew until my…
