Remember Your Purpose

I hear the screams “Hypocrisy! … Hypocrite! … Deceit!” Yet, the very ones whose mouths move are of that reputation.

I hear the cries for “Justice! … Unity! … Peace!” Yet, the very fists raised are fighting against the solution.

I hear the rants toward “Hatred … Cruelty … Death!” Yet, the very teeth chattering gnash against reason and resolution.

My brothers speak ill of another as result of simple disagreements and competition. My sisters spin vicious webs of gossip as a conclusion of jealousy and conceit. Yet, we call ourselves children of a King.

Can I tell you, THIS OUGHT NOT BE!

Where is the love of Christ? Where is the discipleship of a Savior? Are we His followers, or are we just playing a game? How can we reach them when we cannot reach each other? How can we share love if we cannot give love?

This world needs Truth.

This world needs Love.

This world needs Hope.

This world needs Redemption.

We were placed here for a purpose, and that purpose is His and His alone. That purpose is to find the lost, and let them be found! That purpose is to bring Him glory even if it means bringing us shame.

Let us remember.

Let us never forget.

He is our purpose.

He is our goal.

“Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” Phil. 2:1-4

Purpose and Appreciation

I wanted to take a minute in today’s post to say, Thank you. This blog hit 400 followers, and I’m just tickled! It amazes me to think that just maybe this little blog is making traction in the blogosphere, and that it just might make an impact in someone’s life.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read one of my posts and click that little “follow” button. It means so much for you to care enough to want to come back here. It means so much for you to allow my words to have a little portion of your thoughts today. Thank you

Sometimes, I grow discouraged when I see someone’s blog who just started this year, and they have 1,000+ followers; then, I see another, in the same time frame, has less than 100, and maybe, I think, “Well, I guess, I’m not doing too bad.” However, I am beginning to reconstruct my thinking, because I know that is just simple comparison, and that isn’t what matters most! If you live your life always comparing; then, you’re just simply better or worse than those by whom you compare. I must compare myself by my own abilities and achievements, my own goals and from whence I’ve come. I must compare myself by Him and to that which He’s called me. When I live in that comparison, I will always be able to find my way and know where I’m going…

I believe our words have purpose. Our words have meaning. Sometimes, they have more meaning than we meant for them to have. Sometimes, they have more meaning than we once believed they might. Our words make up who we are, and they impact those upon whom we encounter. The words we use matter, and though I do believe this, sometimes, I find myself wondering if my words actually can make a difference…

This is why I chose The Grizzle Grist Mill as the title for my blog. I believe it is important for my words to be given to God, and let Him “grind” them into the purpose and calling to which He has called me. My prayer is He will use the words I have written to impact your life with hope, faith, love and even challenge us both to be more than we thought we could be…

Thank you again for reading, following, and even taking the time to comment from time to time. I pray you are blessed by the words I write, as I know, I have been thoroughly blessed by yours! šŸ˜ŠšŸ’•

Words

Words

They pierce like a knife

They bring so much strife

They swarm overhead

They seek to find where to make their bed

Words

They can soothe a hurting soul

They can calm and console

They can mend a broken heart

They can reconcile worlds far a part

Words

They can bring clarity to confusion

They can bring healing to retribution

They can create life where there’s been only death

They can be so sweet to take away the breath

Words

Once spoken, they cannot be erased

Once heard, they cannot be debased

Once tasted on the tongue, they can never be suppressed.

Once received within the spirit,  they can only be confessed.

Life Speaks

I saw this picture today, and it really hit home…

I hope that my life and my actions always line up with who I say that I am. It is so disconcerting to me how easily, it seems, some people can speak good words, smile and give a look of love and concern; then, that same person can turn and completely tear another to pieces. I know there are times when we have to “smile and nod,” simply because it’s not the time or place to handle a certain situation, or maybe, you’re in the public eye, and it’s best for your leadership, your reputation and your “good name” to just keep your mouth shut, smile graciously and handle someone with kindness. However, when there is underlying resentment and hatred, you can be guaranteed that will come shining through your actions! I don’t care how masked you think you are!

It is a matter of the heart. I’m sure you’ve heard it said, “If there’s trash on the inside, trash will eventually come out.” Or as the Bible says, “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” If there’s junk on the inside, it doesn’t matter how beautiful you paint the face, that junk will eventually come to the surface, and when it does, it’s not going to be pretty!

My prayer is that I can keep a clean heart before God and not try to hide my “ugly” from Him. He sees it anyway; so, why should I try to think otherwise? If I will just spend more time with Him, listening, talking, receiving instruction from Him, being honest with Him about what’s on the inside, and allowing Him to change the ugly, I won’t have to worry about what I do on the outside, because I’ll become more like Him and so much less like me. šŸ˜‰

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14

Why Break Their Hearts

IMG_9834Ya know, sometimes, this world makes me angry at how easily people can walk away from a life commitment. I want to remind them that they made a vow before and to each other, before their family and friends, before GOD. Vows shouldn’t be made flippantly nor should they be taken lightly. Your word should stand for more than just a simple piece of paper that can be shred and burned in less than a minute. Your word should be solid, one that can be passed on from generation to generation.

I understand, there are legit reasons, cases of infidelity, abuse and illegal activities. I got it. They’ve got their reasons, but sometimes, I just want to scream at those who give up for stupid reasons, especially when there’s kiddos involved. Statements like, “Well, I just don’t love you anymore….I’m tired of trying.” These nonchalant attitudes, thoughts of reckless abandonment, these kinds of things should be scoffed at in today’s society, not “understood” and consoled, even congratulated. These are the words that shatter young dreams. These are the actions that implode self esteem and fragmentize tender hearts, and I’m not talking about those who make the decision but, rather, the lives surrounding that decision. Everyone is effected. No one is immune.

Moments fade. Lives change. Hearts are never to be the same. The decision makers think, “All will mend in time. It will eventually be okay.” What they don’t see is the permanent limp they’ve caused, not only to their own life, but to all those involved. Yes, limps can be managed, compensated for, and sometimes, even hidden for a while, but eventually, truth always unveils what is left in the shadows. Water always finds its level, and that is when surviving begins, and thriving is left in the dreamland.

Yes, I know, thriving can come. Healing can come. I am a testimony to this kind of pain and to this kind of healing. It is possible. There is hope thereafter; however, I still experience the pains and the healing…and I’m in my 40’s…and the deed was done just shy of that many years! It’s just not an easy road to travel for those following behind.

Be careful what you say in anger. It may come back to bite. Be cautious what you do when lonely. It may come back to haunt you. Live your life for the eternal moments more than the momentary pleasures of relief. Live out your days with determination to keep those commitment which matter to those coming behind. Live in such a way that generations to come will be eager to follow.

You set the tone, Momma!

If you’re a momma or one day hope to be, I hope you will listen to what I have to give.
You can make or break that home in which you live.
You have the power to make it cheery or make it sad.
You have the power to make it good or make it bad.

You see, we women set the tone for how our families will respond.
We set the stage for this life to be and how each day will dawn.
If we rant and rave, tap our feet, cross our arms and glare, they see us.
They notice when we reach out a hand to comfort, pause for an embrace, or just give a little wink and a smile…and even if we allow our mouths to cuss.

Our children have to make choices, and yes, our husband is accountable for what they allow near.
But mark my word, how we act and react can make or break the atmosphere.
How we speak to those we love can wound or heal their hearts.
How we look at those whose lives we touch can be changed or broken apart.

So, be careful, Momma, what you say.
Choose your words with grace today.
Be careful, Momma, what you do.
Choose your actions by what you want to keep
Rather than by what you want to loose.

Meaningless Words

You say you hear nothing
Yet, there are children screaming
You say you see nothing
Yet, there are people dying
You say you have done nothing
Yet, there is blood in your hands
You tell me you have no words to say
Yet, I hear your lies from day to day
You tell me you have nothing to do
Yet, I see the talents you withdrew
You tell me you have nothing to live for
Yet, I feel your heart beating for more

Take a stand for what you believe
Wake up to what you have indeed
Be alert and see what you can receive
Make the most of what you have been given
And give to those, who by need, are driven
Be aware of the life you are livin’
Don’t give up when the battle is hard
Fight with His armor; don’t be barred
Be brave and accept that metal starred
Don’t hesitate when they persecute you
Go boldly and receive their ridicule, too
Be strong and remember He paid the debt due.
