Tuesday’s Treats #80

Old Ebitt Grill

Location: Washington D.C.

If you go to the Old Ebbitt Grill, you’ve got to try the shrimp and grits! Oh. My. Goodness! Amazing! The grit cake has a deep fried breading, but somehow, they left the grits all creamy and delicious on the inside. The shrimp are huge and succulent, and the sauce is incredible.

My husband said the jalapeño burger is one of the best burgers he’s ever had! My oldest son got the buffalo fried chicken sandwich, which he absolutely loved, and he doesn’t even like slaw! Even the chicken fingers that our youngest had were gobbled up in a flash. The sandwiches were all served with hand cut French fries, and they were great!

This place is absolutely amazing! It’s right in the “hub” of Washington DC; so, if pure needing to get a bite while you’re out and about, it’s easy to get there. I’m sorry, I can’t vouch for the ease of parking, as we walked everywhere, but it was an easy trek from our hotel on the way to our site seeing adventures around the national monuments. The atmosphere is great for lunch or dinner.

You can check out the menu and hours here, and just as a note for anyone from the South who really loves your sweet tea: the “syrup-sweetened” sweet tea is really more like an Arnold Palmer. So, if you like your tea like that, you’ll be fine; otherwise, just stick to water or a Coke. 😉
